Elegant event table with floral centerpiece and neutral balloon installation in a sunlit Washington, DC venue
SUGAR & SPICE CAPITAL

Let us design your next celebration in Washington, DC

From the first conversation to the final arrangement, we shape spaces that feel personal, elegant, and quietly unforgettable. No two events look the same, and that is exactly the point.

OUR PURPOSE

What does it mean to create an unforgettable event?

For us, it means every detail is considered. The linens anchor the room. The florals guide the eye. The balloon installation floats, never shouts. We craft spaces that feel like they belong to you — intimate, refined, and entirely your own.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE ROOMS

The hands that shape every detail

Every event starts with a quiet conversation. From the first sketch to the last linen pressed, we bring a considered eye and steady hands to every celebration we touch.

Founder & Lead Stylist

Zakiya Bomani

Zakiya Bomani established Sugar & Spice DC with a singular focus: to design environments defined by uncompromising intention. Every element is calibrated to serve the atmosphere—never the inverse. Drawing on a decade of refined design expertise, she applies an exacting eye for texture, light, and spatial proportion to each project. Through the deliberate layering of fine linens, ambient candlelight, and architectural forms, she transforms venues into immersive worlds composed entirely around a defining moment. Her philosophy balances restraint with commanding presence—every detail earns its place, nothing competes for focus, and the result is an experience that feels both effortless and inevitable.

Design Assistant

Maya Fortier

Maya translates the visual concept into a refined physical space with precision and care. She handpicks every fabric swatch, working closely with textile suppliers to find the right textures and tones. She coordinates deliveries across multiple vendors, timing each arrival so the room comes together seamlessly. On event day, she’s there personally, checking everything — the weight of a linen drape, the angle of a candle, the exact placement of a centerpiece — making small, deliberate adjustments until every element feels intentional and nothing is left to chance.

Client reviews

From a rowhouse in Logan Circle

Quiet words from clients who trusted us with their most important celebrations. Each one a room we were honored to shape.

The florals were so perfectly placed that guests asked if the room had always looked that way. That's the kind of detail Zakiya catches.

Wedding, Georgetown

We gave her a vague idea and some photos. She gave us a room that felt like it had always been waiting for that party.

Milestone birthday, Dupont Circle

The balloon installation was subtle — elegant curves, no bright colors. It floated above the tables like a sculpture. Exactly what we wanted.
